(no subject)

I'm possibly rocking the boat here but if I wanted to post any comments to Facebook or Twitter it would be almost as easy to copy and paste them as to click that new button.
Let's face it if people are so inclined then the entire contents of locked posts can be done that way.

And whilst most of the requests have been polite I'm really not liking some of the harshly worded requests to refrain from using the new features here.

If you feel that you can't trust me just unfriend me.

I'm with you; thank you for putting it so eloquently!
Do you mind if I copy that into my own LJ?

Thank you! I hope they can make it past customs when the time comes! :)

I've found this :-)
Objects that have feathers are allowed if the objects are fully finished and the feathers are clean, dry, and free of skin. (APHIS Animal Product Manual, Table 3-7-13, Page 272)

As you say, it's always been possible for someone to deliberately betray someone's confidence by copying and pasting. The real problem with the new feature is that it makes it incredibly easy for those who would never dream of deliberately posting something confidential to do so without thinking or even totally by accident.

I do agree though that harshly worded requests are not the way to go. If the person posting doesn't trust their LJ friends, then they should de-friend or set up filters so that only certain people can see their posts.

I barely bother reading the new features anymore. I just stick to what I know and how I want my journal to operate. Call me a dinosaur ;-)

I trust you, absolutely! xx

+1 :)

Yes.

I don't understand why people can't just ask nicely. There's really no need to be so aggressive about it.

I'm another dinosaur- I ignore new features & I can't cope with Facebook or twitter! :)

I trust you, I know I don't often comment but I like reading your posts very much and enjoy seeing your photographs, and sharing your disappointment with our rainy British summer.
It has been lovely today though.

Thank you

I don't often comment on yours but you always paint such lovely pictures with your words :-)

Thank you!
I am glad to hear a voice of sanity, as I have also been seeing some very harsh things said.

You are so right, Penny. I don't like the new changes but I would never threaten my friends here with anything or speak harshly to them. I trust you implicitly and there are filters for those I'm unsure of.

I trust you, I trust pretty much everyone on my flist, and I've not posted a request for folk not to use the clicky buttons. Having said that, the number of people (generally younger folk) who can't even grasp that this could be a problem is quite scary - I know gay folk, trans folk, pagan folk, poly folk, many of whom don't want random comments to "out" them on FB where they may have family members or employers friended. I can see why some folk are running scared, when it would be so easy for LJ to just provide an opt-out or "disable" option.

Hmmmm? There are new features??

Vicky...don't read about it. It will mess with your head!

OOOh I am frightened now, I have not heard of these new features but had one of my other lj friends comment that she did not want comments on facebook. I don't want any of my posts to be available to everyone on facebook.......is there any way you can stop it other than politely asking your friends to be careful?

Where do you find out abou these new features?

[identity profile] aellia.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
You can read about it here and there is a poll going on somewhere which I'll find for you later.

I hope my posts' wording was okay. I trust my friends, I just know mistakes can happen and wasn't sure if everyone was aware of the potential mistake points.
